Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Takes the Box Office by Storm with Impressive Opening Weekend Earnings

Initially, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was projected to earn about $130 million in its opening weekend, but later revised to $110 million. However, the film’s earnings surpassed expectations due to a global promotional partner campaign run by Disney, which reportedly cost $90 million. This campaign helped generate a lot of buzz around the movie, contributing to its impressive box office figures.

Compared to the first two movies in the franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 sits somewhere in the middle in terms of earnings. The second installment grossed $146 million in 2017, while the first movie earned $94 million in 2014. Nevertheless, the latest offering from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is off to a strong start.

One of the things that sets the Guardians of the Galaxy movies apart is their use of music, and the third movie is no different. The film’s soundtrack has been licensed by a number of brands to run targeted campaigns, including McDonald’s, King’s Hawaiian, General Mills, Enterprise, Microsoft, Realtor.com, and Cisco.

This tradition of using music in the movies was evident in the first two installments of the franchise and director James Gunn released the Vol. 3 soundtracks in the weeks leading up to the movie’s premiere.
