The story picks up two months after the dramatic events of its predecessor. Rani (Taapsee Pannu) has relocated to Agra, where she operates a beauty parlor. Her estranged husband Rishu, now living under the alias Ravi and working as a delivery boy with a prosthetic hand, is trying to evade capture. Despite their separation, the couple remains in contact, plotting an escape to Thailand.
However, their plans hit a snag when they are confronted by A.C.P Kishore Rawat and Senior Inspector Manav Shukla, who reveal that they have evidence linking Rani and Rishu to the murder of Neel. Mritunjay “Monty” Paswan, Neel’s uncle, leads the investigation and is determined to bring them to justice. As their escape plan unravels, Rani agrees to marry her well-meaning but oblivious landlord, Abhimanyu, in a desperate bid to avoid suspicion.
The marriage between Rani and Abhimanyu starts off as a platonic arrangement, but things take a dark turn when Abhimanyu’s true colors emerge. He reveals his own dark past and his connection to a series of murders, including the deaths of his relatives. Rani, now caught in a web of deceit and danger, seeks help from Abhimanyu, who ultimately betrays her. The situation escalates as Abhimanyu’s psychopathic tendencies come to light, leading to a violent confrontation.
As the story hurtles towards its climax, Rani and Rishu are cornered by the police at a railway bridge. In a dramatic turn, it is revealed that Abhimanyu has orchestrated much of the chaos to cover his tracks. A staged death scene leads to a shocking twist: Rishu is left to face a crocodile attack, while Rani and Abhimanyu manage to escape.
Six months later, Rani and Abhimanyu are living quietly in a rural village, but the peace is shattered when Rani orchestrates a dramatic confrontation at a cliffside. There, she reveals her knowledge of Abhimanyu’s treachery before taking a leap into the river below. The film concludes with a final twist: Rishu survives the attack, reunites with Rani, and they escape together, while Abhimanyu is arrested.
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba masterfully blends romance and thriller elements, maintaining the suspense and emotional depth of its predecessor. With its intricate plot and unexpected twists, the film not only entertains but also keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. As Rani and Rishu navigate their perilous journey, the film delves into themes of love, betrayal, and the lengths to which people will go to protect their secrets.
