A Most Violent Year Online Movie Trailer
The action of this film takes place in New York in 1981, when the number of criminal actions in the history of that city was increasing. The central figure of the story is immigrant Abel Morales (Isaac), married to an attractive Anoma (Chastain) with whom she has two daughters. He is trying his hard to get the job to spread across multiple sides and become a more respected businessman, but more and more violence by competitors, as well as corruption, threatens to ruin everything that he has created so far, and all this is quite a devastating reflection on his family.
I'll start with the title, A Most Violent Year. This title was supposed to be metaphorically to present the essence of the film itself, the essence of the film, but in my opinion it was done very unsuccessfully. The course of the action of the movie is a time lag, uninteresting to the pain in certain moments. Action Crime Drama? Drama Yes, but Action is not talking about it. Although, about fifty minutes of film, the action moves better, in terms of action, but it also extinguishes. With The Drop, I would have pulled a parallel, having similarly set premise of the film, but in The Drop there is a culmination, which, for many spectators, is surprising, and in this film we are constantly monitoring the events that ultimately do not get any final shape / meaning.
I understand that the director of this film, a certain J.C. Chandor, probably wanted to present himself as a very serious crime drama, but other serious crime drama has a meaning that crystallized in the end. This is not the case here. I do not know much about this director, I watched Margin Call (2011) and I really liked this movie, but when I put together all three of the projects I've made so far together, some things are clearer. He also directed All Is Lost with Robert Redford in 2013, who is also very tough to watch and track.
He became more acclaimed as a screenwriter and wrote a script for this film, so this is essentially his complete work. He probably wanted this to look like the ultimate product, creating and affirming himself as a special author through this project, but he failed in my subjective court. A Most Violent Year is simply not interesting enough to keep track of the tracker for the track, and it takes 125 minutes.
Not to be all badly complimenting the acting of the main protagonists, especially insufficiently taken seriously, , an actor who reveals every new project that he can do much more. In this film he somehow played a version of honest Michael Corleone and really worked very well in the role. On the other hand, Cestein is very attractive, sexy and convincing, but underused, not enough in the movie. I will mention David Oyelowo, who is a new hope, and he also appears as a leading role in Selma's Oscar-winning film.
